 [. . . ]  [. . . ] Insert the included AC Adapter into the FireWire Adapter as shown below. Plug the AC Adapter into the power socket - the 6-pin port is now powered. Plug your Aegis drive or other FireWire peripheral into the powered 6-pin FireWire port. 

Note:
Please note that when the AFW6-4 FireWire Adapter kit is plugged into a power source,  the 6-pin FireWire port on the kit is live. Therefore any device left attached to the 6 pin connector will be receiving power as long as it is plugged in,  even if the 4-pin data port is not plugged into the computer.
