Maintenance of the battery Good maintenance of the battery should include: -Always keep the water level between the upper and lower marks on the front of the battery case. - Keep the upper surface of the battery completely clean and dry and free of corrosive materials; the terminals should be kept clean and greased so as to avoid corrosion. The battery should be given a top-up charge every month to compensate for this loss. - Before and during the cleaning operation, examine the air filter foam carefully: if you see that it is defective, replace it with a new one. - If you ride regularly on dusty roads, you should clean the air filter foam more frequently. Always make sure that the foam is in excellent condition: the life of the engine depends greatly on this component. Carburettor Trouble-free carburation is the key to good engine performance. the carburettor has been factory-adjusted to give the best carburation. NOTE : It is advisable to clean the carburettor periodically, using clean petrol and compressed air. Adjustment of the idling speed This operation must be carried out with the engine warm, in neutral and without using the accelerator. Turn the idling adjustment screw (1) inwards or outwards until the idling speed reaches a point where the engine almost stops but still runs smoothly. For any other adjustment of the carburettor, we recommend that you contact an Official DERBI Service Centre. 7 mm Spark plug maintenance: Remove the spark plug from time to time, clean the electrodes and check how worn they are with a thickness gauge and ensure that the gap between the electrodes is correct. The use of an inappropriate spark plug may cause serious damage to the engine. When doing this, make sure the motorbike is vertical and remove the minimum level screw (OIL MIN) on the right-hand cap on the engine (2). This level shows the minimum amount of oil needed for the engine to work properly, but remember that the recommended oil level would be higher than that, so it is worth making sure there is 650 c. Whenever you have to add oil, use oil with the same characteristics as the oil that is already in the crankcase. The oil in the crankcase must be replaced with the frequency shown in the vehicle maintenance table. In order to do this, with the engine running, remove the oil drainage stopper from the right-hand crankcase (3) and middle Put the drainage stoppers back on and pour 0. Dispose of it appropriately Oil for 2-stroke engine mixes: Fill the oil mix tank with the oil recommended in the vehicle's table of characteristics. Adjustments At the end of the running-in period, and periodically thereafter, it is necessary to carry out the following operations: - Adjust the clutch control, if necessary, by means of the lever tensor, to leave a small play which is easily controlled from the lever. [. . . ] - Riding in areas with heavy smoke, dirt, dust and chemical content in the air. Wash the vehicle as quickly as possible: Washing should never be carried out in direct sunlight, particularly in the summer when the bodywork is still hot, because the soap will dry before it can be rinsed off, and this may cause damage to the paintwork and to the varnish protecting the chromed parts. Washing vehicles should be carried out in areas specifically equipped for recovering or eliminating the detergents used when washing the vehicle. Washed of chromed components Wash frequently with mild soap suds, using a sponge and warm water. [. . . ]
