Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] Some examples of these chemicals are: · lead from lead-based paints , · Crystalline silica from bricks and cement and other masonry products, and · arsenic and chromium from chemically-treated lumber (CCA). Your risk from these exposures varies, depending on how often you do this type of work. To reduce your exposure to these chemicals: work in a well ventilated area, and work with approved safety equipment, such as those dust masks that are specially designed to filter out microscopic particles. ⷠAvoid prolonged contact with dust from power sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling, and other construction activities. [. . . ] the plastic bag that contains the hex wrench and the chuck key also contains the handle extension. Screw the extension firmly into the hole in the gear case of your drill and screw the side handle into the extension. Polarized plugs (one blade is wider than the other) are used on equipment to reduce the risk of electric shock. When provided, this plug will fit in the polarized outlet only one way. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Open the chuck jaws by turning collar with fingers and insert bit fully into the chuck. Place chuck key in each of the three holes, and tighten in clockwise direction. It's important to tighten chuck with all three holes to prevent slippage. To release bit, turn chuck key counter clockwise in just one hole, then loosen chuck by hand. For WOOD, use twist drill bits, spade bits, power auger bits, or hole saws. If drilling thin material, use a wood "back-up" block to prevent damage to the material. Use enough pressure to keep drill biting, but do not push hard enough to stall the motor or deflect the bit. IF DRILL STALLS, it is usually because it is being overloaded or improperly used. To minimize stalling on breaking through the material, reduce pressure on drill and ease the bit through the last fractional part of the hole. Keep the motor running when pulling the bit back out of a drilled hole. The cutting lubricants that work best are sulphurized cutting oil or lard oil; bacon grease will also serve the purpose. DRILLING IN WOOD Holes in wood can be made with the same twist drills used for metal. These bits may overheat unless pulled out frequently to clear chips from the flutes. Work that is apt to splinter should be backed up with a block of wood. When not in use, tools should be stored in dry, and high or locked-up place -- out of reach of children. It will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was intended. Don't force small tool or attachment to do the job of a heavy-duty tool. [. . . ] To assure product SAFETY and RELIABILITY, repairs, maintenance and adjustment (including brush inspection and replacement) should be performed by authorized service centers or other qualified service organizations, always using identical replacement parts. DEWALT will repair, without charge, any defects due to faulty materials or workmanship for three years from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover part failure due to normal wear or tool abuse. For further detail of warranty coverage and warranty repair information, visit www. [. . . ]
