[. . . ] Open the ImageAXS Pro collection into which you want to acquire the Photoshop image file(s). In the File menu of Adobe Photoshop, highlight Export and select ImageAXS Pro Export from the submenu that appears. A data record for the Adobe Photoshop image file is added to the active ImageAXS Pro collection. If a data record for the file already exists, the thumbnail image and source file information are updated to reflect any modifications you have made. STEP 3 STEP 4 CHANGING OPTIONS FOR ACQUIRING FILES Use the Source Files panel of the ImageAXS Pro Preferences dialog box to change options for acquiring source files, especially to filter out unwanted files when acquiring all files in a folder or on a disk or other removable media. To change preferences for acquiring source files: STEP 1 STEP 2 Select Preferences (z-Shift-P) from the Edit menu. Click the Source Files tab on the left side of the ImageAXS Pro Preferences dialog box. The Source Files panel of the ImageAXS Pro Preferences dialog box appears. (If the Source Files tab is pulled out past the others and the name is in boldface type, it is already selected. ) IMAGEAXS PRO MACINTOSH USER'S GUIDE 6-16 ADDING YOUR FILES TO A COLLECTION 6 Source Files panel, ImageAXS Pro Preferences dialog box In the Source Files panel of the ImageAXS Pro Preferences dialog box, change acquiring options as follows: · To make data records only for image, movie/animation, sound, and 3D files, click to put a check mark in the Acquire Only Multimedia Files checkbox. To acquire invisible files, click to put a check mark in the Acquire Invisible Files checkbox. To filter out duplicate files, click to put a check mark in the Don't Acquire Duplicate Files checkbox. Leave this checkbox empty to acquire files even if they are already in the collection. To automatically add the name of each disk or folder in the Finder hierarchy that contains a source file as a keyword when the file is acquired, click to put a check mark in the Acquire Path Elements as Keywords checkbox. The disk or folder names will be added to each data record as a keyword family or hierarchy (see Chapter 8, "Using Keywords to Describe Files"). · · · NOTE Selecting the Acquire Path Elements as Keywords option increases the time IMAGEAXS PRO MACINTOSH USER'S GUIDE 6-17 ADDING YOUR FILES TO A COLLECTION 6 necessary to acquire new source files. · To use Macintosh OS Navigation Services dialog boxes (which provide additional options) when acquiring source files, click to put a checkmark in the Use Mac OS Navigation Services checkbox. NOTE The ImageAXS Pro Web Templates folder may not appear in Navigation Services dialog boxes on computers using Mac OS 8. 0 or 8. 1. IMAGEAXS PRO MACINTOSH USER'S GUIDE 6-18 CHAPTER 7 ENTERING FIELD DATA ImageAXS Pro 7 7 ENTERING FIELD DATA IN THIS CHAPTER: How Do I Use Data Fields?7-1 7-1 7-3 Entering Data in an Individual Record Importing a Text Data File 7-4 Entering the Same Data in Multiple Records HOW DO I USE DATA FIELDS? Text-based data fields, along with a thumbnail image and keywords, form the complete data record for each file you add to an ImageAXS Pro collection. When you create a new collection, you select the number and type of text fields in each record by choosing a collection format (see "Choosing a Collection Format" on page 5-3). Text fields should contain information that applies to all of the files in a collection (such as "Photographer's Name" for a collection of photos). You can relabel the fields in a collection at any time (see "Changing Field Labels and Hiding Fields" on page 3-15). ENTERING DATA IN AN INDIVIDUAL RECORD Use the Info Sheet View to open an individual ImageAXS Pro record and enter field data. To enter text field data for a record: STEP 3 Select the record by clicking its thumbnail image (in the Thumbnails View) or its row of data (in the Text List View). The thumbnail or row will be outlined in red to show that it is selected. Open the Info Sheet View for the record by selecting Info Sheet from the View menu, or clicking the Info Sheet View button in the button panel. The Info Sheet View window for the record appears. STEP 4 IMAGEAXS PRO MACINTOSH USER'S GUIDE 7-1 ENTERING FIELD DATA 7 Text data fields, Info Sheet View window STEP 5 Type the data in the text entry boxes for each field. Click inside a field to enter data in it , or press TAB to go to the next field (or Shift-TAB to go back to the previous field). SAVING CHANGES TO A RECORD Any changes you make to a record in the Info Sheet View are automatically saved when you switch views or move to another record. To save changes manually, choose Save Record from the Record menu or click Save at the top of the Info Sheet View window. To cancel any changes, click Revert at the top of the Info Sheet View window before switching views or moving on to another record. IMAGEAXS PRO MACINTOSH USER'S GUIDE 7-2 ENTERING FIELD DATA 7 ENTERING THE SAME DATA IN MULTIPLE RECORDS In many cases, the same information for a field will be appropriate for several records in a collection (for example, the Photographer Name field in a collection of pictures mostly taken by the same person). [. . . ] (Large files may take more time to open as a slide. ) To choose if a slide show loops continuously: · In the box labeled Change Slides, click the Continuous Loop checkbox to keep the slide show going until you press the ESC key. SCREEN DISPLAY OPTIONS To choose how much of the screen a slide show uses, do one of the following: · · In the box labeled Display Slides, click In a Window to show images in a window that can be closed or collapsed. Click Use Full Screen to show images with the rest of the monitor display blacked out. To display a slide show on one or more monitors: · In the box labeled Display Slides, click to put a check mark in the Use All Available Monitors checkbox. Each slide will cycle through each of your connected monitors before it disappears. IMAGEAXS PRO MACINTOSH USER'S GUIDE 16-3 SLIDE SHOWS 16 To choose if a slide show uses captions: · In the box labeled Display Slides, click to put a check mark in the Show Captions checkbox. The caption for each image will be the same as the label shown for the record in the Thumbnails View. DISPLAYING SMALL IMAGES To choose how small images are displayed, do one of the following: · In the box labeled Small Images, click either the Actual Size radio button or the Scale Up radio button to determine the display size to use in the slide show. DISPLAYING ERROR MESSAGES To choose how error messages are displayed: · In the box labeled Show Errors, click one of the radio buttons to define whether and how to show error messages in the slide show. Errors in slide shows occur when a selected image is offline (in other words, ImageAXS Pro can't find the source file). The options are as follows: · Never Offline images are left out of the slide show, with no indication that an error has occurred. · In a Dialog Box Before the slide show starts, a dialog box appears listing any offline images. · As a Slide In the place of an offline image, a blank slide with the legend "This image is offline" appears during the slide show. Click OK to close the ImageAXS Pro Preferences dialog box when you are finished making changes. VIEW PRINTING OPTIONS In certain views, you can change the amount of material that prints on a page as follows: · Thumbnails View ImageAXS Pro divides the page width by the display size of the thumbnails to determine how many thumbnail images to fit across each page.
