[. . . ] It can yhen be stored flat, without having to empty the water container. For any repair, take your machine to a registered after-sales service centre, so that the repair will be in accordance with the standards indicated in this instruction book. Any repair done by an unauthorized person would cancel the warranty. The manufacturer reserves the right to makes changes and alterations to the product without prior notice. [. . . ] When you press the steam control trigger, if it sounds it is calling attention to one of these problems : steam generator not yet ready anti-scale cartridge must be replaced. Air must be able to circulate freely underneath the appliance to ensure correct ventilation. If you use a wooden ironing board or table to iron on, remember to protect it from damp by covering it with an oilcloth for example. We recommend that you iron articles in the order indicated on the iron's thermostat dial so that the temperature gradually increases. Do not use : Rain water, water from condenser tumble, water from the fridge, water from any evaporator appliance, water supplied by your water softener if it indicates that the regenerating salts need replacing (incompatibility with the EMC system). Choosing your water You can use either tap water or distilled water for irons. Depending upon the limescale level of your tap water and upon your weekly ironing load (average time : 2/3 hours), it can be more economical to use distilled water for irons (not for car batteries). In this case, your cartridge should last up to 1 year (depending on the amount of your ironing and on the quantity of steam you ask for). Remove, shake it for a few seconds and wait for the resultant colour change (approximately 1 minute). 2 or more mauve squares : we advise you to use distilled water for irons. - Never fill the reservoir with hot water - Never add products containing alcohol or essences (perfume, eau de Cologne, lavender essence. You do not need to unplug the appliance, and can immediately re-commence ironing. The iron has a steam spray facility which permits the use of a higher level of dampness to deal with creases but without leaving any water marks which would take longer to dry off. Using the spray Press the steam trigger in the normal way and at the same time push the spray button for as long as required. Anti-scale cartridge change indicator light A) When the anti-scale cartridge begins losing its effectiveness, the EMC system is activated. 1 indicator light begins flashing to indicate that the cartridge must be changed soon. B) If the water-softening cartridge is not changed, the EMC system itself stops the production of steam after a certain amount of ironing time. To produce steam again, either the anti-scale cartridge must be changed or distilled water must be used. After changing the cartridge, the unit must be turned off and on again in order to recreate normal operating conditions (90 seconds wait). The reference number to order anti-scale cartridges for model X'ellence irons is 410 057. The anti-scale cartridges are available in blister-pack from your retailer or from your Helpline. You can then tidy the cable under the clip and store the whole unit flat without emptying the tank · If you lie the machine on its side, water from the container may spill out. [. . . ] This straightforward and slightly restrictive task of taking part in the recycling of devices that you wish to dispose of is therefore up to you, the consumer. Once worn out, your electrical device should not be disposed of with your usual household refuse. Use a pair of pliers to cut the electric cable to prevent it from being re-used. Dispose of the device at an approved collection centre in the container provided for this purpose so that it can be re-processed. [. . . ]
