Installation on Macintosh machines We strongly recommend using Mac OS9 or greater when operating your Digital Media reader. [. . . ] With your computer running Windows ME, 2000 or XP, connect the reader's USB plug to an available USB port. Your reader should now appear in "My Computer" as an additional removable drive. The Digital Media reader may now be used as a portable storage device, accessible through standard file access methods. Important: Prior to removing the Digital Media card from the reader, the card must be disconnected. Failure to do so may result in data corruption and render your card unusable. Double-click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop, right-click on the icon and select "Eject". On the pop-up menu, select "Stop USB Mass Storage Device. " Wait for disconnect confirmation before removing the device. Download the appropriate self-extracting driver file from our website (www. edgetechcorp. com/support/ downloads). There are drivers specific to the type of reader you have purchased (CompactFlash, SM, MemoryStick, etc. ) Save the driver to your desktop or a temporary folder. Double-click the driver file to launch a self-extracting utility which will unzip the individual files. You will be prompted to provide a place to extract the driver files - default response is Desktop folder. Once extracted, the driver files will reside in a folder (the name of which begins with "Win98" in the location you specified. Before connecting your reader, turn on your computer and boot up Windows 98 as usual. Select the option "Search for the best driver for your device. " Click "Next".
