[. . . ] The KLF 10 comes with fixed spikes, installed at the factory, with spike covers for hard floors. For best results on carpeted floors, remove these covers after determining the optimal location for your speakers. ! HOW TO CONNECT THE LEGEND SERIES TOWERS Switch your electronics OFF when making all connections!Connect your Legend KLFs to the "Front" or "Main, " left and right channels of your system's power amplifier. Be sure to observe proper polarity (+ to + and - to -) and avoid having excess bare wire at the connectors which could short together causing possible amplifier damage. Refer to "About Speaker Wire Connections" for more details. Bi-Wire or Bi-Amp Connections The KLF 20 and KLF 30 are equipped with two pairs of input terminals to facilitate a bi-wire or bi-amp hookup. In both cases, separate speaker cables are used to carry the high and low frequency signals independently to each speaker. This results in a reduction in distortion and an increase in clarity and detail. In a bi-wire hookup, the high and low frequency cables are connected to the same channel of one power amplifier or receiver. Please consult your dealer for details regarding connection of multiple speaker cables to the speaker outputs of your specific amplifier. You can also use two pair of "Front" or "Main" speaker terminals on your amplifier (A and B) if they are internally wired in parallel. Screw the threaded spikes (pointed end into the cabinet) into the appropriate inserts as described on the previous page. Cover the exposed spike ends with the small vinyl caps to protect your television cabinet or shelf from being scratched or marred. Imagine that the speaker is a spotlight and you are aiming the beam at the seated ear height in the central listening area. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN! " Klipsch Dedicated Surround Speakers Klipsch's dedicated surrounds are designed for use as surround sound speakers in home theater or multi-channel audio/video applications. They are NOT intended for use as main or front speakers (left, center or right). Surround speakers work in combination with other speakers adding dynamic realism and special effects impact by virtue of their high efficiency and wide dispersion pattern. [. . . ] If the speaker will be used on a hard surface, these caps should be left in place to provide a non-skid surface. The spike feet will enhance the performance of your KLF series loudspeaker by concentrating the weight of the speaker on the spikes, improving the mechanical connection to the floor (especially on carpet). This improves the definition, clarity and detail of the speaker by channeling cabinet vibration into the floor.
