START ENGLISH QUICK START GUIDE 2 Open the Card cover. 4 3 Slide the battery compartment cover in the direction of the arrow printed on it, using your fingertip. 3 Inserting a SmartMedia removable memory card Insert the card fully with the contact area facing towards the monitor side (back of the camera). The card will lock into position and not pop back up when properly inserted. If it is inserted incorrectly, it may become jammed. Attaching the strap 1 Pull the string loop through the hole in the lens cap. 4 5 Loosen the strap in the stopper beforehand to adjust the strap length. [. . . ] To start shooting, press the shutter button gently all the way (fully). The green lamp and card access lamp blink and the camera begins storing pictures on the card. Turning the zoom lever towards T: Enlarges the picture. W: Displays multiple pictures at the same time. Viewfinder Orange lamp 7 Press the shutter button all the way to start recording. The card access lamp blinks and the camera starts writing the movie to the card. If you use up the remaining seconds displayed, the camera automatically stops shooting and starts writing the movie to the card. AF target mark 8 Green lamp 4 3 To return to the shooting mode, press the shutter button halfway. You can now shoot pictures using the viewfinder. MOVIE PLAYBACK PLAYBACK SELECT GO Menu functions for shooting operation Menu functions for playback operation PLAYBACK FRAME BY FRAME EXIT When the ERASE screen appears, press Ñ to select YES. To cancel erasure, press ñ on the arrow pad to select NO, and press or the button. CAMERA 4 Press to erase the picture. DRIVE ISO Selects the drive mode from sequential shooting, auto bracketting, or self-timer shooting. (AUTO/100/200/400) Selects the exposure mode from A (Aperture priority auto), S (Shutter priority auto), M (Manual mode), or (My mode setup) when the Mode dial is set to "A/S/M/ ". SLOW NOISE REDUCTION DIGITAL ZOOM FULLTIME AF AF MODE PANORAMA Adjusts the flash for slow shutter speeds. Zooming can be set up to 7. 5x in combination with the optical 3x zooming (equivalent to 32 mm-96 mm on a 35 mm camera). Keeps the image in focus at all times without having to press the shutter button halfway. The Olympus standard SmartMedia card (supplied with this camera) allows you to combine pictures side by side. (*CAMEDIA Master software must be uesd to create panoramas after the images are taken with the camera. ) Lets you shoot pictures in black & white or sepia tone, etc. CARD SETUP SLOW/ SLOW2) Plays back movies. (still pictures) Runs through all saved pictures one after another (slide-show). MOVIE PLAY (movies) Using the zoom Shoot a wider picture (wide-angle) Press the zoom lever toward W to zoom out. Zoom in on a subject (telephoto) Press the zoom lever toward T to zoom in. A/S/M/ 4 To return to the shooting mode, press the shutter button halfway. Shoot pictures using the viewfinder. Select an item displayed on the screen by pressing Ñ or ñ on the arrow pad, and then press to start one of following operations. (*All existing data stored on the card is erased when the card is formatted. ) SETUP Viewfinder ALL RESET Selects whether to keep the current camera settings when you turn off the power. REC VIEW MY MODE SETUP FILE NAME Selects whether to display images on the monitor while saving them to a card.
