If the correct password is entered during the alarm, the notebook starts up normally. After one minute the notebook stops the alarm and the indicator lamp goes out. The user must press the Suspend/Resume button again to start or Resume. After pressing the Suspend/Resume button, the notebook will still be locked and the indicator lamp will light up again; the user must now enter the correct user password. If the entry is correct, the notebook will start. The meaning of the symbols are as follows: Power-on indicator Your notebook is ready for operation when this symbol appears. The power-on indicator lights up when the notebook is supplied with power, and flashes when it is in the Standby mode. 2 = Characters enabled when NumLK indicator is lit (see "Status indicators"). If the numeric keypad is enabled (NumLK indicator is lit) and you hold the [Fn] key down, you can output the characters printed in blue at the right bottom of the keys. A26391-K105-Z120-1-7619 23 Working with your notebook Keyboard Key combinations The following description of key combinations refers to functions when using Microsoft Windows. Some of the following key combinations may not function in other operating systems and with some device drivers. Other key combinations are described in the relevant manuals supplied with your application programmes. You enter key combinations as follows: Ê Ê Press and hold the first key in the combination. While keeping the first key pressed, press the other key or keys in the combination. i Fn + If the external keyboard does not feature an [Fn] key, you can simultaneously press the [Ctrl] + [Alt Gr] keys or the [Ctrl] and the [Alt] keys. Limitation: The functions "Switch off screen [Fn] and [F1] and "Switch off loudspeaker [F1]" [Fn] and [F3]" are not supported. [F3] F3 Switching the loudspeakers on/off This key combination switches your notebook's integrated loudspeakers off and on. Enlarge MS-DOS screen This key combination enlarges the screen in the MS-DOS mode to the full screen mode or switches it back to the 640x480 display mode. Reducing the display brightness This key combination reduces the brightness of the display. Increasing the display brightness This key combination increases the brightness of the display. Check in the BIOS Setup whether the Advanced - I/O Device Configuration field is set correctly for the port you are using. The respective entry in the fields of Serial Port or Parallel Port must match the setting in the application programme under Windows 9x.
