Cut meat, fish, vegetables or fruits in slices of about 1/2 cm thick and 5 to 6 cm long : cooking of usual pieces is not an optimum way of use of the appliance. If preparing different types of foods (fish, shellfish, meat and fruits), it is recommended the stone be cleaned between each kind of food (for ex. : meat and fruits) in order to fully appreciate the taste and flavour. To clean, use the scraper packaged with the appliance (depending on model) or a plastic spatula. Do not clean the stone with water, as this may cause thermal shock which will break it. Due to the denseness of the stone, it will take approximately 5 to 10 minutes to reach a new temperature setting during the use of the appliance. Stop the appliance before the end of the meal; the denseness of the stone will hold the temperature for at least ten minutes, and will continue to cook the food.
