CONTENTS 1. [. . . ] Wait for about 1. 5 minutes for the machine to get ready. Caution If there is a grinding sound, re-install the imaging unit. The imaging unit is not properly installed. Caution If you force the dummy caps too much, it may cause a problem. 9. 7 <Maintenance> Replacing the waste toner container The life of the waste toner container unit is approximately 1, 250 pages for full color 5% image printing or 5, 000 images for black printing. When the life span of the waste toner container has expired, Replace/Install Waste Toner Tank appears on the display of the control panel, indicating the waste toner container needs to be replaced. To replace the waste toner container: 1 2 3 Turn the machine off, then wait a few minutes for the machine to cool. Pull the waste toner container out of the machine using its handle. 6 Insert the new container into position and then push it to make sure that it is firmly seated in place. 7 Close the front cover firmly. Caution If the front cover is not completely closed, the machine will not operate. 8 Turn the machine on. Tip After rebooting, your machine will automatically reset the counter for the waste toner container. Tip Make sure that you lay the waste toner container on a flat surface so that the toner does not spill. 4 Remove the container's cap from the container as shown below, and use it to close the waste toner container opening. Caution Do not tilt or turn the tank over. 5 Take a new waste toner container out of its package. 9. 8 <Maintenance> Maintenance parts To avoid print quality and paper feed problems resulting from worn parts and to maintain your machine in top working condition the following items will need to be replaced at the specified number of pages or when the life span of each item has expired. You can check the serial number by taking the following steps: 1 2 Press Menu until Copy Menu appears on the bottom line of the display and press Enter. Press Stop/Clear to return to Standby mode. Xerox highly recommends that an authorized service provider, dealer or the retailer where you bought printer performs this maintenance activity. Checking replaceables If you experience frequent paper jams or printing problems, check the number of pages the machine has printed or scanned. The following information are available for checking the replaceable elements of your machine: · Supplies Info: prints the supply information page. · Platen Scan: displays the number of pages scanned using the scanner glass. · Imaging Uint, Transfer Belt, Fuser, TransferRoller, Tray Roller: displays the number of pages printed each item. To check the replaceables: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Press Menu until Copy Menu appears on the bottom line of the display and press Enter. Press the Scroll buttons until the item you want appears and press Enter. If you selected to print a supply information page, press Enter to confirm. Press Stop/Clear to return to Standby mode. 9. 9 <Maintenance> 10 Troubleshooting This chapter gives helpful information for what to do if you encounter an error.
